Battery Rebates Available in Brisbane
Queensland does not run its own battery rebate. The state Battery Booster scheme closed in May 2024, so the incentive Brisbane homeowners actually claim is the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, which applies in every Queensland postcode with no means testing. It is delivered as a point-of-sale discount, so it comes off your invoice rather than arriving as a refund later. Covers roughly 30% of the cost of an eligible battery. Applied by your installer as an upfront discount, with no paperwork for the homeowner.
Eligibility Requirements
The battery must be Clean Energy Council approved and VPP-capable, installed by an accredited installer. It works with both new and existing rooftop solar.
Value Steps Down Over Time
The rebate reduces every six months, and a tiered structure introduced on 1 May 2026 lowers the rate on larger batteries. Earlier installation attracts a higher discount.
What Size Battery Does a Brisbane Home Need?
Battery sizing is driven by how much power you use after dark, not by the size of your solar array. A household running air conditioning through summer evenings needs more storage than one that is out all day.
We size storage against your actual consumption profile and existing inverter capacity, then check it against the current rebate tiers so you are not paying for capacity that attracts a reduced discount.

Energex Approval and Grid Connection
Adding battery storage in South East Queensland needs approval from Energex before the system can be commissioned, and the requirements differ between single-phase and three-phase properties. Connect Energy manages the whole process. Most of our installations pair with Sigenergy SigenStor or Tesla Powerwall, both of which meet the Clean Energy Council approval and VPP-capable requirements needed for the federal rebate.
